ABOUT ROCK ‘N’ ROLL USA MARATHON TRAINING PLANS
For over 20 years, the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series has made running fun for athletes of all abilities. There are three dozen locations (and counting!) that host Rock 'n' Roll events all across the United States and around the world. No matter what city you race in, you're guaranteed a course lined with cheer teams and live music, which makes up the heart and "sole" of each Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series race. Live bands perform alternative, classic rock, punk, funk, and blues music to keep runners and spectators movin' and groovin' all the way to the finish line.
At Custom Training Plans, we offer Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon training plans that are customized to each city’s unique route, helping you to prepare more thoroughly for your race. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series offers more than just marathons too – depending on the city, there may be any combination of 1-mile, 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon races. Some cities even have unique distance options, like Philadelphia’s 7.6K race that honors the year of America’s founding. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series races are held year-round, and the variety of distances available make these events as fun for a new runner as an experienced racer. Wherever you rate your athletic ability, you’ll be surrounded by thousands of people just like you – some of them in costume! And if you’re feeling frisky, you can take part in the Remix Challenge and earn an extra medal by running one race on Saturday (usually the 5K) and the half marathon or marathon the next day. No matter what distance you choose to run, you’ll be surrounded by a supportive, fun-loving crowd as you take in the sights and sounds of the Rock ‘n’ Roll racing experience.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series races are run on urban courses, visiting the best of each city. Depending on the city, you might run along a river, tour through historic neighborhoods, visit local landmarks, and enjoy other unique experiences. For example, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon lets runners take a full loop of the Vegas Strip at night, the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans follows the cable car route and spends time in the famous French Quarter, and the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco Half Marathon takes you right over the Golden Gate Bridge. A CTP Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon training plan will help you reach for your race goals. With workouts tailored to your current level of fitness, you can prep for your race both safely and effectively.

Each program is aimed at increasing your cardiovascular fitness, speed, and power so you can handle whatever the course throws at you. The Seattle and San Diego courses have hills from start to finish, and our Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon training plans help you prepare with customized running workouts that include hill work, building the kind of strength and endurance you’ll need to conquer the hills. For flat and fast courses like Las Vegas and Chicago, we’ll help you increase your pace with sprints and intervals.
Preparing for your Rock ‘n’ Roll race is critical, no matter what your current level of fitness may be.
