ABOUT BALTIMORE RUNNING FESTIVAL TRAINING PLANS

Since 2001, the city of Baltimore has hosted the Baltimore Running Festival in the month of October. The festival includes the running of the Baltimore Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K race along with an expo, family-friendly activities, kids' races, and entertainment. The Baltimore Running Festival is an annual gathering for runners of all distances to celebrate the sport, and Custom Training Plans wants to help you arrive in top form. Baltimore Running Festival Training Plan

Baltimore’s October weather is perfect for running, and the Running Festival’s welcoming atmosphere makes the 5K, half marathon, and marathon a great place for runners of all abilities. The 5K route starts at Pratt and Calvert Streets. This flat, fast course takes runners on a short tour of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area. The route passes the Maryland Science Center and turns to head back toward the finish at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. Whether you’re looking for a couch to 5K program or you’ve been running them for years, CTP can help you prepare with a Baltimore 5K training plan that suits your needs.

The marathon is a fair yet challenging course that travels through many diverse neighborhoods, including the scenic Inner Harbor waterfront, Federal Hill, and Fells Point. The route also travels through the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. At mile 13.1, the half marathon course joins the marathon course, and the group moves on to conquer the biggest climb together. Miles 16-20 of the route are often compared to the Boston Marathon’s famed “Heartbreak Hill.” Runners are then rewarded with a loop around the shores of Lake Montebello. The last five miles are mostly downhill before turning onto Pratt Street. The runners are cheered onto the finish along the waterfront promenade through McKeldin Square, West Shore Park, and Rash Field next to the U.S.S. Constellation.
