ABOUT FALMOUTH ROAD RACE TRAINING PLANS
The Falmouth Road Race has been a tradition on Martha's Vineyard for almost 50 years. The event takes place annually in August, but it's never too early to start your Falmouth Road Race training plan. Custom Training Plans offers a unique Falmouth Road Race training schedule for runners at every level. At 7 miles, Falmouth is a little less than a mile longer than a 10K. This could lead to undertraining if you opt to use a 10K training plan. Custom Training Plans' Falmouth Road Race training plan has been developed by professional athletic trainers and is designed to build fitness and help you make real progress toward your Falmouth Road Race goals.
The Falmouth Road Race is one of the most iconic running events in the nation. The first event, in 1973, had only 100 participants. Today, more than 11,000 runners attempt to complete the 7-mile route. The first three miles are hilly, winding, and shaded by trees. Then, the route opens up and runs parallel to Martha’s Vineyard Sound. Though there are many free 10K training plans, using a free plan to prepare for Falmouth could lead to problems. A 10K plan is the equivalent of only 6.2 miles, meaning you could be undertrained for the part of the race where most runners need the most preparation. In fact, Falmouth’s final stretch is famous for the steep hill that comes just a half-mile before the finish.
Preparing for the Falmouth Road Race with CTP can help you train properly and prevent injury. With Custom Training Plans, you’ll get a 12-week Falmouth Road Race training plan that can get your ready to run from the Woods Hole Community Center to Falmouth Heights Beach with energy to spare. Follow a Falmouth Road Race training plan that’s as unique as you are so you’ll be as ready as you can be in August.

Our method
-
With the expertise of USATF certified coaches and physical therapists, we built an advanced model to weigh the effects of runner-specific variables on training outcomes.
-
We analyzed unique characteristics of hundreds of races across the country to build a “race profile” into our model that accounts for elevation gain, altitude, time of year, and more.
-
Our model generates a unique training plan for you and your race, and all plans are reviewed by a coach and hand-tweaked before they make their way to you.
