ABOUT GREAT ALOHA RUN TRAINING PLANS

The Great Aloha Run takes place in Honolulu, Hawaii, on the third weekend of February each year. Since 1985, tens of thousands of people have run the 8.15-mile race. Today the race counts more than 15,000 participants each year. If you're headed to the Aloha State for this race, discover what Custom Training Plans can do for your preparation. Our Great Aloha Run training plans are customized to take into account your current fitness level, any past racing experience, and the features of the Great Aloha Run course itself.

Great Aloha Run Training Plans

The Great Aloha Run travels from the Aloha Tower through the streets of Chinatown toward Aloha Stadium. The course is fairly flat, but the last third of the course features some gradual hills. The finish line is on the turf at Aloha Stadium, and the home stretch is incredibly festive. The course tracks downhill into the stadium, giving runners the chance for a fast and fun finish. Since the course is 8.15 miles, or 13.12K, using a prepackaged training plan just isn’t an option – a generic 10K plan will leave you over a mile short of the finish. A CTP Great Aloha Run training plan is customized for the distance, the course’s elevation changes, and you.

When you train for the Great Aloha Run with Custom Training Plans, you receive workouts that are tailored to fit your needs. Your running and cross-training workouts will be at just the right intensity for you, helping you avoid the injuries associated with under- and overtraining. Plus, our Great Aloha Run training plans include hill repeats and intervals intended to keep your legs spry and stave off burnout. If you’re prepping for this race, say “Aloha!” to the difference a CTP Great Aloha Run training plans can make.

  2. Custom Race Profile

We analyzed unique characteristics of hundreds of races across the country to build a “race profile” into our model that accounts for elevation gain, altitude, time of year, and more.

  3. Training Plan Model

Our model generates a unique training plan for you and your race, and all plans are reviewed by a coach and hand-tweaked before they make their way to you.
