The Lakeside Marathon is an annual event that has runners skirt along some of the most beautiful sections of Lake Tahoe, on the California Nevada border. One of three races in the "Tahoe Triple" some runners will run the entire perimeter of lake Tahoe in the course of three days.

Lakeside Marathon Training Plans

The race takes place on a Sunday in early October, arguably the best time to visit Lake Tahoe when the crowds are lighter, the weather is cool and the fall colors are out. The Lakeside Marathon course starts in California at Lakeside Beach at 6230′ and goes up to 7000′ at Spooner Summit and back down to near lake level at 6300′ and finishes in Nevada at Incline Village. 99% of the race is in Nevada.

If you are really feeling up for a challenge, on Saturday and Sunday, you can run two other marathons or half marathons each day; and the Cal-Neva Marathon & Carnelian Bay Half Marathon on Saturday and the Lake Tahoe Marathon & Emerald Bay Half Marathon on Sunday. Regardless, you should make a weekend out of it with activities and attractions plentiful in the Lake Tahoe region.
