At the end of January each year, over 20,000 people gather to take part in the Miami Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K. Miami Marathon, Half Marathon & Tropical 5k Training Plan

The beautiful January weather and sea-level Miami Marathon course are friendly to beginning runners and experienced racers alike. Because Miami and Miami Beach are at sea level, there’s very little elevation change, so it’s an ideal place to experiment with a new distance. CTP can help you get ready with a customized training schedule, whether you’re there for the marathon, the half marathon, or the 5K.

The 5K kicks off the weekend on Saturday. It begins at the Miami Children’s Museum on Watson Island. On Sunday, the half marathon and marathon start just east of Watson Island. All three routes travel over the MacArthur Causeway, with the Port of Miami to the south.

If this is your first 5K, congratulations on choosing such a great race to start! All 5K runners will finish in Miami Beach at Nikki Beach. Those continuing on will enjoy a brief tour of Miami Beach, including the historic Art Deco District and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden before hopping onto Venetian Way to traverse Biscayne Bay back to the Mainland.

The remainder of the race is run near the shoreline of Biscayne Bay. Because there is so little elevation change, you can enjoy the breeze off the bay as you run past numerous water and aid stations. Some of the stations are “adopted” by a foreign country, adding to the carnival atmosphere of this race.
