Since the year 2000, Monument Avenue in Richmond, Virginia, has hosted the Monument Avenue 10K in March. Today, over 25,000 people gather for what is now one of the largest 10K races in the United States. Custom Training Plans worked with athletic trainers to design Monument Avenue 10K training plans that are not only designed for the course, but also tailored to your fitness level. Monument Avenue 10K Training Plan

The Monument Avenue 10K is run almost entirely on Richmond’s famous Monument Avenue. It is a pancake-flat course with just three turns during the entire 10K, making it an equally great place to run your first 10K as it is to shoot for a new PR. The out-and-back course is lined with beautiful old homes, many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In the middle, the grassy median is filled with bands, cheer squads, and other local entertainment. Near the 7K mark, the race passes the monument erected in honor of Arthur Ashe, a Richmond native, tennis star, and champion of civil rights.
