ABOUT ROCK ‘N’ ROLL SAN ANTONIO MARATHON AND HALF-MARATHON TRAINING PLANS

The San Antonio Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K race, and 5K race have been San Antonio traditions since 2007. These races are part of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series, a group of running races that take place all over the U.S. Every year, on the first weekend of December, over 16,000 athletes gather near the Alamo to take part in one or more of the San Antonio races. Texas's winter weather is ideal for a running race, and athletes from all over the country come to San Antonio to participate. Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon and Half-Marathon Training Plans

The shorter races kick off the weekend on Saturday morning, and both are quite friendly to beginning runners. The 5K features gentle elevation changes that will keep you focused, and the 10K throws in a climb smack in the middle of the course. The 5K and 10K courses start at Historic Sunset Station and travel through St. Paul Square. Then, both routes cross over the River Walk, giving runners a chance for some great views before the 10K splits off to weave through Tobin District. Both routes circle back to end downtown at Travis Park. Whatever your level may be, a San Antonio 5K training plan or San Antonio 10K training plan can help you prepare for the race you’re going to run with running workouts that build your strength and endurance at the right pace for you.

On Sunday, the marathon and half marathon start near the Torch of Friendship. The half marathon and full marathon routes stay together for nearly the entire first half of the full marathon course and tour many of the unique and lively neighborhoods of San Antonio. The race starts in downtown and meanders through Pearl District. When the course heads into Brackenridge Park, runners will enter the Blue Mile, which honors fallen members of the United States Armed Forces. Shortly after leaving the park, the half marathon and marathon courses split. Both end at the Tower of the Americas.
