The season starts in February in Scottsdale, Arizona, amidst the Spring Training season. The Scottsdale Giant Race offers both 5K and 10K options, both of which are friendly distances to newer runners. If you’re looking to build up to the half marathon, our Scottsdale Giant Race 5K training plans and Scottsdale Giant Race 10K training plans can help you get a strong start. All of our Giant Race training plans are completely customizable, so you get workouts that are custom-tailored to fit your current level of fitness and your race goals. When you follow a plan that provides guidance at the right level of intensity, you can avoid the training injuries that can keep you from arriving at the finish line inside of Scottsdale Stadium.
The Giant Race series next heads to the State Capitol in April for the Sacramento edition of the race. These fun and flat 5K and 10K races follow the same 5K loop that features mostly flat terrain with some small hills to climb. The course starts in front of Raley Field, home of the AAA Sacramento River Cats team. The route runs along the riverfront on paved bike paths, through a small neighborhood, and back to Raley Field, where runners finish on the warning track near left field. A CTP Sacramento Giant Race 5K training plan or Sacramento Giant Race 10K training plan can help you build strength for the hills, or help you increase your distance – whatever your goals may be, a Custom Training Plans Giant Race training plan can help.
The third stop on the Giant Race series is in June in San Jose. There, the Giant Race offers a 5K and 8K course – a great opportunity for a 5K runner to step up to an 8K, and a super 5K race for beginners and experienced racers alike. The San Jose Giant Race’s course is relatively flat and travels on the cobblestone paths in Happy Hollow Park. Racers finish on the baseball field with a high five with Gigante, the San Jose Giants mascot. When you follow a San Jose Giant Race 5K training plan or San Jose Giant Race 8K training plan from Custom Training Plans, you will receive guidance on training on proper surfaces so you’ll be ready to tackle the cobbles with confidence.
In September, the series comes home to San Francisco, where the Giant Race offers three distances: a 5K race, 10K race, and a half marathon. The race routes start and end at AT&T Park, the home of the San Francisco Giants. The half marathon course takes runners on the flattest and fastest course in San Francisco, from Mission Bay to The Embarcadero, Fisherman’s Wharf, Fort Mason, the Presidio and Fort Point, and back before finishing on the field at Oracle Park. Following a CTP San Francisco Giant Race Half Marathon training plan gives you the chance to prepare for your race with a 12-week program that’s customized to your current physical fitness level. If you’re just getting off the couch and your goal is the half marathon, we also offer a 20-week couch-to-half-marathon program that provides an additional eight weeks of conditioning to set you up for success. No matter what your distance, each CTP Giant Race training plan helps you build up strength, endurance, and power so you can arrive at the finish line on the field at Oracle Park feeling strong.
No matter what your Giant Race aspirations are, we can help you reach for your goals. Each of CTP’s Giant Race 5K training plans, Giant Race 8K training plans, Giant Race 10K training plans, and Giant Race Half Marathon training plans offers course-specific guidance to help you train smarter, not harder. With the expertise of USATF certified coaches and physical therapists, we built an advanced model to weigh the effects of runner-specific variables on training outcomes.
We analyzed unique characteristics of hundreds of races across the country to build a “race profile” into our model that accounts for elevation gain, altitude, time of year, and more.
Our model generates a unique training plan for you and your race, and all plans are reviewed by a coach and hand-tweaked before they make their way to you.
