ABOUT WINE & DINE HALF MARATHON WEEKEND TRAINING PLANS
Just after Halloween each year, the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend draws over 25,000 participants to the happiest place on Earth to run the Wine & Dine 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon. Like other runDisney events, runners can sign up for the Disney Two Course Challenge as well, which combines almost 20 miles of racing: the Wine & Dine 10K on Saturday and the Wine & Dine Half Marathon on Sunday.
Disney’s Marathon and Half Marathon Weekends are exceptionally well-suited for beginners, and Orlando’s climate makes this early November race weekend a real treat, especially for those who are getting their last racing in before the snow flies. Custom Training Plans can help you train for your Wine & Dine event with a race-specific training plan that can be personalized to fit your current level of fitness. We offer an option for every distance: Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon training plans, Disney Wine & Dine 10K training plans, and Disney Wine & Dine 5K training plans. Every training program is completely customizable and takes your schedule, fitness level, and race goals into account. Using a CTP Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon training program can help you make safe, efficient progress as you race day approaches.
The Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon weekend kicks off with the 5K on Friday. This course is located entirely on the Epcot grounds. The start line is located at the far end of the Epcot property and circles the west side of the grounds. After about a mile, the race takes a brief tour through Epcot and around the lagoon, giving runners the opportunity to take a peek at World Showcase before turning onto the home stretch. After circling the east side of Epcot, runners arrive at the finish line.
The next day, the Disney Wine & Dine 10K is run, taking the start of the race away from the Epcot area. This race begins near the Palm Golf Course, and after runners depart, they immediately encounter a long section of open road leading the pack south. By the time runners reach the halfway mark, Epcot is well within their sights. After circling the west side of Epcot, runners pass World Showcase and skirt the lagoon. Like the 5K, the 10K finishes just outside the Epcot gates.
The 5K and 10K Wine & Dine events are perfect for runners of all levels, but they’re particularly well-suited for beginners. The course is very flat, and the support provided by Disney is top-notch. To run your best race, you’ll need to prepare with a Disney Wine & Dine 5K training plan or a Disney Wine & Dine 10K training plan. At CTP, we design our plans to help runners safely build endurance and cardiovascular strength to reduce the chance of injuries caused by overtraining.
Like the 5K and 10K, the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon course is flat and fast, allowing runners to concentrate on moving forward instead of climbing and descending. The half marathon starts near the Palms Golf Course, where crowds of family, friends, and Disney characters cheer the racers as they depart. The route meanders south toward Animal Kingdom, taking runners onto Discovery Island past Expedition Everest and the Boneyard. The race’s halfway point comes just after the route leaves Animal Kingdom, and if you’ve followed a high-quality Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon training plan, you’ll have plenty of energy reserved to power you through the rest of the race. After a loop through Blizzard Beach Water Park and a visit to Hollywood Studios, the half marathon wraps up in front of Epcot.
Finishing a half marathon is an attainable goal for nearly anyone, and Disney’s Wine & Dine Half Marathon is no exception. It’s important to train properly, particularly if you’re new to running or returning to the sport after some time off. If you’re a complete beginner, look for a 20-week Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon training plan. Our couch-to-half marathon program guides new runners through 8 weeks of conditioning that help to prepare your body for the demands of running. For more experienced runners, CTP also offers a 12-week Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon training program that can be modified to help you reach for your goals, whether that’s a new PR or just to finish the race without walking!
Whether you’re running 5K, 10K, or the half marathon, you deserve a comprehensive training plan. Custom Training Plans designs both race-specific and distance-specific training programs that go above and beyond bare-bones mileage charts. Our plans are created by professional trainers and include cross-training, mobility exercises, running workouts, and more, all at an intensity that’s right for you. No matter what your goals, present fitness, or desired distance may be, we can help you get ready to race. Discover the CTP difference when you use a Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon training plan.

Our method
-
With the expertise of USATF certified coaches and physical therapists, we built an advanced model to weigh the effects of runner-specific variables on training outcomes.
-
We analyzed unique characteristics of hundreds of races across the country to build a “race profile” into our model that accounts for elevation gain, altitude, time of year, and more.
-
Our model generates a unique training plan for you and your race, and all plans are reviewed by a coach and hand-tweaked before they make their way to you.
